Carolina BarretoAlternative Investments Analyst
Carolina joined ROAM Capital in 2022 to work as an Investment Analyst in the Firm’s Research Department. Carolina assists in identifying “top quartile” fund managers, with a core focus on risk-adjusted returns and longevity of track record within the private equity, real estate, venture capital, and private debt asset classes. Carolina also plays an integral role in the due diligence process of prospective fund managers, including creating research reports, peer groups, and bespoke analyses for each of the funds in the ROAM Capital platform.
Prior to ROAM, Carolina worked for Fitch Ratings as a Research Associate in the LatAm Business Relationship Management team, where she participated in the contract negotiation process of over 200 counterparties in LatAm, including Banks, Insurance companies, Fund and Asset Managers, and Non-Bank Financial Institutions. Carolina was also responsible for tracking deals in the market, monitoring competitor ratings, managing and developing Fitch’s business relationships, and maintaining internal reports on clients and prospective clients.
Before Fitch Ratings, Carolina was part of the Alternative Investment team at Porvenir, the largest pension fund in Colombia. Carolina was involved in tracking and managing the portfolio of alternative assets of +$4Bn and +120 funds. She was also responsible for the due diligence process of alternative funds with total capital commitment amounts of $1.5Bn.
Carolina earned dual degrees in Industrial Engineering and Chemical Engineering from the Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia.
